SCRIPTURE FIRST

10Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might. 11Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. 12For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places. 13Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.

14Stand therefore, having girded your waist with truth, having put on the breastplate of righteousness, 15and having shod your feet with the preparation of the gospel of peace; 16above all, taking the shield of faith with which you will be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked one. 17And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God; 18praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, being watchful to this end with all perseverance and supplication for all the saints— 19and for me, that utterance may be given to me, that I may open my mouth boldly to make known the mystery of the gospel, 20for which I am an ambassador in chains; that in it I may speak boldly, as I ought to speak.

EPHESIANS 6:10-20

BE STRONG

10 Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might. 11 Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.

It’s very simple and straightforward; we need to stay steadfast in God, lean onto Him and aim to have an unwavering focus on El Shaddai [God Almighty, The All Sufficient].

The enemy will try to get our attention. Distract us. That is why having an unwavering focus on God is the first step. Distractions will come in various ways and that is why we need to put on the Armor of God. We wear our King’s Armor.

FLESH IS NOT THE MAIN ISSUE

12 For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places.

We follow our principles. Our values, identity, morals, the things that shape our choices. That is why people from the world do what they do because their principles are different compared to Jesus’. Some people by nature are already nice but then others NEED Jesus to shape and mold the heart for it not to turn to wickedness but to love and compassion.

There is a difference between a great person and someone great who spends time with Jesus. Their mannerism changes because of God.

When our principles are not aligned with God, it creates a weaker point where we give in to external powers, “the darkness”. Given in this context, is Influence.

In 2024 I let external factors influence my faith in God, where I was working, what I was consuming, and where I spent the majority of my time. I let myself become suppressed and it led me to backsliding, becoming afraid to stand up for myself against my boss (who is a very nice guy).

Long story short, it was all spiritual suppression because I spent 9 hours 5x week in a dark place.

A quick prayer point plug: Pray for my previous boss of 2024 that he'll get to meet God at such a place, that he will realize how much he needs God. When I asked him about his belief, he did not deny God's existence, he just said “I don't need God in my life now”. That hit me very hard.

Carry on!

We want to bring the Kingdom here. Down onto Earth. Which means we create heavenly places here. We need to protect it like it's our fortress where God is. In these fortresses we do show compassion and love to people, but aim remove the contamination of darkness. And while we’re at it we’re expanding the Kingdom here, shining the light in the dark places to show the hope, the healing, and the truth of God.

THE ARMOR

13 Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.

With God's Armor, he clothes us in protection. Other religions need tangible things to “protect” them, but we don't need it cause we know that spiritual battles need spiritual clothing : The Armor of God.

He equips us to protect, defend, and attack when needed in the battles we live in every single day. Mental, physical, it all starts from the Spirit for we are spiritual beings having very physical experiences that can be very blinding.

LET THE ASSEMBLY BEGIN!

THE BELT

14 Stand therefore, having girded your waist with truth,

Also known as the Belt of Truth. Living truthfully will lead to bearing honest fruits. Not having to lie makes things a lot less complicated but also it counters the tactic of deception.

Picture this; if you don’t wear your belt your pants will fall off and you’ll get embarrassed. It is the same with lies when it is revealed in the light of truth. What’s done in darkness shall come to the light. The truths of every lie will surface. [Luke 12:2-3]

Enemy Tactic: Deception. Make you do things that's outside of God's will.

The Counter: Start being honest with yourself and others. Start practising speaking the truth. A white lie is still a lie. That is how contamination begins. Half truths are also lies. Therefore speak as to what things are. Do not speak in a way that the listener paints a different picture to what it truly is. Jesus used parables to convey a message to reveal the truth, not to divert the people.

BREASTPLATE

having put on the breastplate of righteousness,

Our hearts are where our morals lie. That is where the drive comes from for justification.

A hint I've picked up on is if you end up needing to justify why you are doing or have to do, in the sense needing to talk yourself into something, then you are on the wrong track. God's will is just and does not need justification because He has already done it and is the judge.

Enemy Tactic: Distraction. Fabrication to justify. Cause you to create reasons why you should/have to do things even when you don't have true peace in your heart.

The Counter: Spend time with God’s word to learn more about Him. Jesus is the perfect role model for us. Let your heart [Psalms 51:10] and mind [Romans 12:2] be aligned with God’s will. Only let God into your heart to work on you. Let Him help you shape the morals and values you need to fulfill your mission He has for you.

SHOES

15 and having shod your feet with the preparation of the gospel of peace;

Wherever you go, your feet move. We often find it challenging to take the first step of doing something new or outside of our comfort zone.

Being obedient with God can sometimes feel crazy or overwhelming. But remember that God will still guide your footsteps even when you take a few wrong turns within your heart’s plans. [Proverbs 16:9]

Enemy Tactic: Delay. Keep you stagnant. If he can keep you still from being obedient to God, it’s a win for it. If it can’t stop you, it’s going to try to slow you down.

The Counter: Take one step at a time even when scared. God can always redirect you and get you where He wants you if you move at least. The only thing that matters is what God thinks and says about you, let that be an antidote to the paralyzing effect of what others will think of you because it does not matter as highly as God’s word over you.

THE SHIELD

16 above all, taking the shield of faith with which you will be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked one.

“We put our faith in somethin’ that our eyes have never seen” - Toby Mac

Faith is stepping into the uncertainty. It is not convenient and definitely does not provide comfort. One of the things the world teaches us is to rely more on comfort and convenience. The danger of this is it can lead to the Delusion of that you can take care of yourself. Hustle Culture is a big one that drives people a high esteem of atounomy driving the faith factor out of how much you still need to lean onto God.

When you are faithful people will find you crazy because we are beings that often looks for confirmation before stepping into something new.

Faith is the one thing that keeps you going even when others says the opposite.

Faith is the fuel to attempt the impossible. Faith is the rocket fuel to miracles.

Faith is where growth happens.

Faith is your shield to counter the darts of “what if’s“ that make you hesitate your beliefs towards the future God has in store for you or what He can do. It is a way to keep on looking up to God.

HELMET

17 And take the helmet of salvation,

Our heads are the echo chambers of our thoughts. Whatever we decide to repeat in our minds will get louder and louder. Whenever a lie comes in, captivate it before it can start bouncing. As in Korinthians 10:4-6 states that we need to take our thoughts captive and give it to God to replace them. That very act is obedience to God because He wants you to know the truth and only believe in His truth.

We are saved. You are a child of God, and so am I. Taking one truth, [a handful would be even better];  it only takes one truth to start countering lies, self doubt, depression, anxiety, negative self view/talk of what’s taking place in your head.

Your sins are washed by the blood of Jesus. You are loved by Jesus. You have a seat in Heaven when you believe you are saved by Jesus Christ and that He is your Lord and savior. You are a child of God, and He desires you.

Enemy Tactic: Doubt. Tries to plant a seed of a lies to create self doubt, depression, anxiety, toxic relationships, more lies, anything that can cause you to drive yourself away from God.

The Counter: Have Godly truths about what God says about you in your back pocket at all times.

God is always with us, but where are you with God now currently? Be brutally honest with yourself on this question. When you are honest with yourself, that’s when you start recognizing the small weeds of lies and remove them as mentioned in Romans 12:2.

SWORD

and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God;

Our sword is the source of getting our spiritual food. The Bible. Studying the Bible in Spirit with God, which is a way of having fellowship with Him, is equipping you to counter attack and defend yourself from the enemy.

It teaches us the authority God has given us. That we only have to fear God and nothing else. Even if you don't know scripture by heart, don’t let it discourage you, the Holy Spirit will give you scripture when it’s needed to go on offense. The important part is to keep on reading God’s word and fellowship with Him because it will make you a more skilled swordsman.

Enemy Tactic: Diversion, aiming to distract you to postpone spending time with God. Often disguises itself under “I did not have enough time” to delay your calling God has for you.

The Counter: The sword is to recognize and strike the enemy to clear the path that you’re walking with God.

PRAY IN SPIRIT

18 praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, being watchful to this end with all perseverance and supplication for all the saints

First I thought this was a transition to the next part, but this is also part of the Armor of God because what drives the armor? Onto what is the Armor of God put on? Your Spirit.

Praying in supplication can be anything from asking God to begging God from a place of humbleness. I believe we all have a spirit which comes to extraordinary fellowship with The Holy Spirit when we let Him in. That is why God can hear our thoughts, because He is in us. Our spirit communicates with Him.

When you pray from the Spirit, you pray within the fellowship with God and not from the flesh.

REMEMBER: Our aim is to live from the Spirit → the Soul → the Body, NOT the other way around. It is easier to live from outwardly inwards because we are having a physical experience but the danger of that is the sinful habits of the flesh will start over ruling, increasing the difficulty of hearing/being in tune with God over time.

Reverse that: inward to out will unlock increased discernment, gifts, intimate fellowship with God, self discipline to looking after yourself in all aspects [Spirit, Soul, Body].

AMBASSADOR IN CHAINS

9 and for me, that utterance may be given to me, that I may open my mouth boldly to make known the mystery of the gospel,

As follows, let the prayer be answered. Praying from the Spirit causes you to live from inward to out causing your mind to perceive the situations differently.

Your prayers might not always get answered, but the way you think of the situation will definitely start changing. Therefore, keep on praying because it can only add to the Kingdom of God and to you in some way.

Also, when you pray from the Spirit, it won’t be from fear but from authority because your Spirit is in fellowship with the Holiest. God.

God is the word and He will make His Gospel known to everyone, creating revelations to each individual person of the “mystery”. It is not our job to save people because our salvation only comes from Jesus Christ. Our work is to tend to the field sowing seeds and watering the crop for God is the One Who will take the person on a journey of discovery and revelation of who God truly is.

The Mystery of the Gospel is reaching The understanding of the true Gospel of what God did for us and where He wants us, and who we are to Him.

20 for which I am an ambassador in chains; that in it I may speak boldly, as I ought to speak.

We can be chained down but not silenced! Speaking boldly is to firmly stand in your belief and not be ashamed to proclaim it. How many times did we hinder ourselves from speaking boldly because of the lack of belief in what we have to say about God’s grace? God’s love? God’s testimony?

When we Doubt if the Gospel is true, We get Discouraged. That causes us to get Distracted by “what ifs” which Delays us from fulfilling our callings and purpose making us feel Defeated due to regret of not being obedient/humble.
