SCRIPTURE FIRST

22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, 23 gentleness, self-control. Against such there is no law. 24 And those who are Christ’s have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires. 25 If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit. 26 Let us not become conceited, provoking one another, envying one another.

GLALTIANS 5:22-26

THE AMAZING THING

We already contain the fruits of the Spirit, we only need to access them by executing on it. As you'll be reading what each one is, you'll come to find that some you already put into practice and some find it a bit more challenging. But we'll discuss more about overcoming those challenges later in this letter.

ABOUT THE FRUITS

22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, 23 gentleness, self-control.

LOVE

When we turn to love, we see compassion and humility. It is the care for other. Not thinking less of yourself but thinking of yourself less.

It is where the serving heart comes from. Building others up.

37 Jesus said to him, “‘You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind.’ 38 This is the first and great commandment. 39 And the second is like it: ‘You shall love your neighbour as yourself.’

MATTHEW 22:37-39

JOY

It is different compared to happiness. It entails happiness but is a mixture of contentment and patience. It’s a spiritual response towards God, not from external conditions. It is something that lasts, even during tribulation because it is the relational connection you have with God.

12 rejoicing in hope, patient in tribulation, continuing steadfastly in prayer;

ROMANS 12:12

PEACE

In choice making it’s not about what feels right. It is a calmness you experience despite of situations being most tragic, you feel calm and content. Not because it seems minor but it is because the alignment with God’s will.

It is in a picture, the feeling of when every puzzle piece that needs to fit, fits. Even when you’re unable to see the whole picture there is a sense of peace. It is an experience of trusting wholly that this is God’s way for you.

When you feel anxious, do not rush it, or proceed with it because it is the opposite of experiencing peace. Not experiencing peace is a warning. That is when you turn to God and pray for direction/discernment/wisdom to become aligned with His will.

LONGSUFFERING

Why do we need to suffer if we can fight now? God calls us to patient and endure the wrongs in life by restraining yourself from anger. Hate, resentment, and deceit comes from anger.

God is just, and we need to trust in Him that He will deliver everyone and every act where it belongs. We are put here on earth to fulfil the callings He has put onto us, and not distract ourselves bringing justice out of our own power.

Longsuffering is an endurance game that needs the other fruits of the Spirit to maintain the stamina.

21Though they join forces, the wicked will not go unpunished;

But the posterity of the righteous will be delivered.

PROVERBS 11:21

KINDNESS

It contains love but is what people call the actions of compassion, mercy, and grace. It is not to act out of selfishness but out of a place to serve others.

13 For you, brethren, have been called to liberty; only do not use liberty as an opportunity for the flesh, but through love serve one another.

GALATIANS 5:13

GOODNESS

We all have morals and values. But the morals and values that are good comes from God., and we need to stand firm in them. The good we want to do is what God intends for us to do. It will bring us closer to the steps of where we need to be in our callings.

1 Stand fast therefore in the liberty by which Christ has made us free, and do not be entangled again with a yoke of bondage.

GALATIANS 5:1

FAITHFULNESS

It is to trust God by believing in Him without having tangible evidence of what He will do. It is like the trust you have with your closest friend who is loyal and reliable. But that goes both ways because to bear faithfulness you yourself need to be loyal and reliable to others.

You need to be able to trust yourself

GENTLENESS

Some sees this as a weakness, but it is a very very strong strength to have. People gravitate to those who are gentle. You can be direct and still be gentle. You can set boundaries and still be gentle. it is a trait that combines calmness with strength.

SELF-CONTROL

Here it’s regulating your desires and prioritizing. When you become a follower of Jesus, you want your will to become God’s will, but sometimes our hearts of the flesh gets in the way shifting our focus slowly away from what matters. That is why accountability, habits, environment, types of people, discipline matters.

Self control is a constant act of action. Executing against yourself not to react on desires that are short term but Heavenly focused.

THE BEAUTY OF THE FRUITS

Against such there is no law.

All of it is straightforward and can’t have rules made against it because the fruits bear upliftment/respect. When you hinder these fruits, destruction comes.

WHAT IT MEANS TO DIE WHILE LIVING

24 And those who are Christ’s have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires.

We all have a desire, a passion, our own will and ambitions we want to follow. That’s what the world teaches us, but to carry the fruits of the Spirit means to offer your entire self to God.

34 When He had called the people to Himself, with His disciples also, He said to them, “Whoever desires to come after Me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow Me. 35 For whoever desires to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for My sake and the gospel’s will save it. 36 For what will it profit a man if he gains the whole world, and loses his own soul?

MARK 8:34-36

HOW WE SHOULD BE MOVING

25 If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit.

Walking in the Spirit is to move around in the Spirit, let the fruits over flow and become blessings to others. If you don’t move to grow, are you truly living?

You are put on earth to make a difference for the better, a difference to bring the Kingdom of God down to earth for others to experience His Glory.

The fruits of the Spirit comes from God, and that is why we want to serve Him and bring His Kingdom down, so others can experience His fruits; His perfect love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control.
