Beat The New Year Before It Even Begins

Don't Be That Person That Fails In 48 Hours

It’s almost the end of 2024. Very near. Frightening, very very frightening. In 48 hours, people will fail…

The Last 48 Days

We all have this grand idea of the New Year’s Resolution. I want to touch on this topic of changing ourselves into someone extraordinary.

Well, unfortunately, it starts the year before. Why? Simple.

Winter forges summer bodies if worked on. That principle goes the same for habits and personal work.

Also, why waste the time until then? it’ll only make it harder to achieve what you want when you can start working on it now.

Progression is faster when you start earlier than later. And that is now.

People Are Pros…

It’s more fun doing unhealthy things things now than what’s best for us in the long term. Short-term gratification eats up your brain [not literally]. Because of instant gratification, it causes us to procrastinate.

We all are pros at some level. Hence Pro-crastination.

Spending more time doing what you know you shouldn’t will fester more and make the transition harder. It will always be harder when starting. You can decide how much harder it will get. Fix it now, or do it later?

Why People Choose 1 January

It is the new year mark worldwide on the Gregorian Calendar. The majority has generalised 1 January as the reset button. This date plays the psychological factor called Media & Social Pressure.

If enough people in a group setting do something, it becomes the norm.

1 January does not have to be the reset/change date. The best date is today. Start today to make the norm effect affect you less over time.

Imagine if you don’t even need a personal change. New Year’s Resolution will shoot to yearly goals for other aspects of your life. Yes, personal development is a constant project because you need to maintain it.

A New Year’s Resolution should only have one prompt; Maintain what I have/are this year or do better.

Fail In 48 Hours

Pre-Party 31 December and party at midnight only to be hungover the next day. You sleep the whole day because you had a “rough” night. Some celebrate the next day because it’s a new year.

If you have already put in the work, your life style has been implemented by this time.

The Pivot

Go sleep early and get up early if that is what you want as one of your goals. Don’t hit the snooze button on day one. I know it’s game over the moment when I do that.

In the end, 1 January is only another day. No one is pressuring you to go out and party. If you experience pressure, it’s time to look at your circle. Start your year by changing with your surrounding group. If they are the type that will only be holding you back, change the type you hang out with. It can become lonely but the pain is worth it in the long term.

Every day is a gift. Every date is another date. Some do have significant meanings and others are bland. Because every day is a present, it is a new start to do better than the day before.

Do that 1% extra and you’ll see how things will change over time. If you feel like it, do 110% instead 100% because it pushes you to stay outside your comfort zone. Every year should be a time to expand your capabilities.

Steps To Keep In Mind

  • There’s no better time than starting now [today].

  • Why wait while I can do it now?

  • Every day is another gift to be present. One stepping stone at a time.

  • Push yourself to do the extra 10%, but don’t beat yourself up if you don’t always get there.

  • Stay consistent. Every day is a new day to try again.

Yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery, but today is a gift. That’s why it’s called a present.
